Now in its 11th year, Story Club is a themed, live storytelling night where exceptional people sit in a giant armchair and read true stories out of a novelty-sized book. In this special Festival edition, hear guests share their funniest stories, darkest moments and their shameful secrets on the theme of ‘Fool Me Once’. Featuring Ben Jenkins, Zoe Norton Lodge, Jacqueline Maley and Alex Lee.

Jacqueline Maley is a columnist and senior writer for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age newspapers, where she writes about politics, people and social affairs. She has also worked on staff at The Guardian in London and The Australian Financial Review, as well as contributing to numerous other publications including Gourmet Traveller and Marie Claire. In 2016 she won the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Columnist.

Alex Lee (Australian)

Alex Lee

Alex Lee is a writer, actor, television presenter and comedian. She’s worked at ABC News24, Buzzfeed, The Roast, and is currently appearing on The Checkout. She also plays a half-orc barbarian in a Dungeons and Dragons Podcast.

Zoe Norton Lodge (Australian)

Zoe Norton Lodge

Zoe Norton Lodge has worked with the Chaser team on ABC TV shows including The Hamster Wheel, The Chaser’s Media Circus and The Chaser’s Election Desk and she was a writer and presenter on The Checkout for six years. Zoe is co-creator of Story Club, and has written approximately four million short stories. Zoe’s writing is widely published in Australian anthologies, including Best Australian Stories. Her first book of short stories was Almost Sincerely. The first two titles in her new middle grade series Elizabella Meets Her Match, and Elizabella and the Great Tuckshop Takeover are out now.

Ben Jenkins (Australian)

Ben Jenkins is a writer, producer and television presenter. He has worked on The Checkout, Tonightly, The Feed and The Chaser’s Election Desk. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, People of Letters and The Best Australian Comedy Writing. He is host and co-creator of the comedy nights-turned podcasts Story Club and Dragon Friends. He is also co-host of the hit podcast Free to a Good Home.
