Coffee and Headlines

Grab a coffee with the editorial teams behind 7am, The Saturday Paper and The Monthly as they reveal what the morning’s headlines really mean in the Elston Room. A great way to start your day at the Festival, leading reporters and editors, including hosts Osman Faruqi, Maddison Connaughton and Nick Feik, explore the news and politics shaping the country.

Nights at the Library

Enter the minds behind your most borrowed books with the Sydney Writers’ Festival’s Suburban and Regional Library Program. Enjoy hearing award-winning and bestselling Australian authors Kate Grenville, Anita Heiss and Candice Fox in an illuminating conversation each evening from Tuesday April 27 to Thursday April 29. Presented in partnership with the State Library of NSW, and live streamed to your local library.

The Curiosity Lecture Series

At The Blacksmith's Workshop, some of the Festival’s most inquisitive minds deliver lectures on eclectic topics that spark their curiosity. From Australia’s whimsical wildlife wonders to the untapped magic of mycelium, our speakers guide you through unexpected territory and probe the status quo.
